According to the army, a high-ranking commander of the Islamist Hamas was killed in an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip. According to the military, Hakem Al-Issa was one of the founders of Hamas. He was therefore primarily active in the military wing of the terrorist organization. He is also said to have played an important role in the planning and execution of the massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023.

According to the army, Al-Issa was one of the last high-ranking Hamas commanders in the Gaza Strip. Most recently, he served as head of an important unit of the terrorist organization and worked on the structural reconstruction of Hamas after around one and a half years of war in Gaza.
