Following the rocket attack on the Golan Heights annexed by Israel, which killed at least twelve young people, the Israeli security cabinet has held consultations.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Joav Galant were authorized to "decide on the manner and timing of action against the terrorist organization Hezbollah", the Prime Minister's Office announced in the evening following the meeting, which lasted several hours. Netanyahu had previously threatened the pro-Iranian Hezbollah that it would pay a "high price".

Meanwhile, Lebanese media in Israel were quoted as saying that two areas in the south of Lebanon had been attacked that had already been targeted by the Israeli air force several times in recent months. However, it does not appear to be a reaction to the missile attack on the Golan Heights, according to the report. Israel holds the Shia militia Hezbollah, which is allied with Iran, responsible for Saturday's attack in the Druze village of Majdal Shams, in which at least twelve people aged between 10 and 20 were killed.
