Russia Kiev: Around 200 Russian soldiers invaded Pokrovsk
After months of assaults against Ukrainian positions around Pokrovsk on the edge of the Donbass, Russian soldiers have succeeded in penetrating the heavily contested city, according to reports from Kiev. The Russian forces had infiltrated several smaller infantry groups into the city, bypassing the Ukrainian lines, the General Staff in Kiev announced on Facebook. The approximately 200 Russian soldiers had established themselves and engaged in heavy fighting with the Ukrainian units. Both sides also used combat drones.

According to the Ukrainian general, the fighting is "highly dynamic and intense". Meanwhile, the Russian army is attempting to break through the Ukrainian lines of defense with battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
Meanwhile, the General Staff contradicted Russian claims that Ukrainian troops were completely encircled in Pokrovsk. Rather, larger areas around the city had been recaptured. This had stabilized the situation in the section and on the access routes to Pokrovsk.
Pokrovsk and neighboring Myrnohrad have been contested for months and are threatened with encirclement. Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than three and a half years.
