In the Ukrainian capital Kiev, the metro is no longer running due to a power cut. The escalators in the stations also came to a standstill. The city administration spoke of a temporary outage. All lines were affected.

Since the beginning of the war, there have been occasional outages. This is the first time the city has experienced such an extent.
The red line in particular, which connects districts on both sides of the Dnipro River (also known as the Dnieper), is considered an important transport infrastructure in the metropolis of millions. Its failure leads to disruptions in the city's logistics.
In Kiev, as in many other cities in the country, there are emergency shutdowns and power cuts due to damage to the energy infrastructure following Russian attacks. The metro stations located deep underground also serve as shelters during the war in the event of Russian attacks.
