"Our delegations have reached an agreement on the most important provisions of the agreement negotiated in Geneva," wrote the Secretary of Ukraine's National Security Council, Rustem Umyerev, on Facebook.
Several US media outlets also reported, citing a US government official, that the US and Ukraine had agreed on terms for a possible peace deal.
"The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace deal," the broadcasters ABC News and CBS News quoted an unnamed US government official as saying. "There are still a few small details to work out, but they have agreed to a peace deal," he told the media.
According to Umjerow, the Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Selenskyj is to travel to Washington in the coming days for a meeting with US President Donald Trump.
The visit is expected to take place in November. The aim is to discuss the final stages of the agreement and reach an agreement with Trump.
Last week, the USA presented a 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine ordered by Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin. Europeans and Ukrainians renegotiated the plan, criticized by many as a "Russian wish list", with US representatives in Geneva.
Moscow, for its part, has described the plan, which demands tough concessions from Ukraine, as a possible basis for negotiations, but has warned against any major softening in favor of Kiev.
