For the time being, the Kremlin will not comment on the temporary ceasefire proposed by the USA in the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. Before Moscow reacts publicly, all the details of the proposal must be known, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. "First we need to receive this information."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Security Advisor Mike Waltz had promised to provide Moscow with all information about the negotiations between the USA and Ukraine in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah.

During the talks in Jeddah on Tuesday, the Ukrainian delegation declared its willingness to agree to an immediate 30-day comprehensive ceasefire. In return for the demonstrated willingness to make peace, the US administration has lifted the temporary freeze on arms deliveries to Kiev.

Russia is in no hurry to react. Russian troops are advancing on the front. Most recently, they were able to advance into the small town of Sudzha in the western Russian region of Kursk, which is considered the most important town that the Ukrainians were able to capture during their surprise counterattack last year. In this context, Peskov spoke of a "good dynamic".

Contacts between Moscow and Washington are nevertheless planned in the coming days. US President Donald Trump had stated that he also wanted to speak to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin on the phone shortly - perhaps this week. Such a meeting could not be ruled out and could be organized at short notice, said Peskov. However, there is still no clarity on the time and place for a personal meeting between the two heads of state, which is also planned.
