According to the regional administration, the southern Russian cities of Saratov and Engels have been the target of the largest drone attack since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. According to the state news agency Tass, the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, said that more than 30 houses had been damaged in the night-time attack. All emergency services had been mobilized.

According to Tass, the Russian Ministry of Defense had previously announced that more than 130 Ukrainian drones had been shot down in various regions of the country during the night - more than 50 of them in Saratov, 40 in Voronezh and dozens more in the Belgorod, Rostov, Kursk and Lipetsk regions and over the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea.
Under the mediation of US President Donald Trump, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to temporarily stop attacking each other's energy facilities. However, the minimum compromise is limited to targets of this kind and the date of entry into force is unclear. Both countries repeatedly attack each other with combat drones, with the civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure in Ukraine being far greater than in Russia.
