According to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russia can compensate for possible oil shortages in China due to the Iran war.

Lavrov said this in Beijing after a meeting with Chinese head of state Xi Jinping, as reported by the Russian state news agency Tass.

"Russia can of course make up for the lack of resources that has arisen in China and other countries that want to cooperate with us on an equal and mutually beneficial basis," he said. Lavrov accused the USA of using the war in the Persian Gulf to gain control over Iranian oil.

The oil shortage on the world market due to the Iran war opens up opportunities for the major oil exporter Russia to generate additional revenue. China and India are the most important importers of Russian oil. In order to curb the price increases on the global market, US President Donald Trump also suspended sanctions against Russian oil sales for a month. However, the restrictions have been back in place since last weekend.
