According to the administration, the US population stands behind the decision to go to war with Iran. "I believe they do," said government spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt in response to a corresponding question.
"The president knows that the country is smart enough to look past all the false headlines," Leavitt said. She was alluding to media reports questioning the legitimacy of the attack on Iran.
A poll commissioned by CNN had previously revealed that 59 percent of Americans disapprove of the original decision to attack Iran. 41 percent support it. For the representative survey, SSRS interviewed 1,004 Americans on behalf of CNN. The survey took place on Saturday and Sunday.
