According to official reports, three civil defense workers were killed in a suspected Israeli attack in southern Lebanon. They were on their way to a rescue mission near the coastal town of Tyre, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun wrote on Platform X. According to the Lebanese armed forces, two soldiers were also injured. The Israeli military did not initially comment on the incident.

According to media reports, the Israeli armed forces had attacked a Lebanese military patrol that was accompanying the civil defense forces on a rescue mission at the site of a previous Israeli attack. Israel was violating international law by targeting rescue workers, wrote President Aoun.

Despite a ceasefire between Israel and its neighboring country, the conflict with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon has resulted in mutual attacks on an almost daily basis. Lebanon itself is not officially a party to the conflict. During the first direct talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington, Israel recently demanded the complete disarmament of Hezbollah. Beirut insists on a complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanese soil.
