Politics Lebanon: Many dead in Israeli attacks
According to Lebanese reports, more than 20 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on targets in Lebanon since last night.

In the area around the coastal town of Sidon alone, nine people have died, including five children, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Another 14 people were killed in further bombardments in the south and east of the country. In Beirut, one person was killed in an attack on a car.
When asked, the Israeli army did not comment specifically on these deadly attacks and referred to an official statement on its latest action against Hezbollah in Lebanon. It stated that the military had carried out "dozens of waves of attacks" in the capital Beirut, the Bekaa Plain in the east of the country and in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah's weapons depots and significant assets were targeted in order to further weaken the militia. Israel's army did not initially provide any information on possible casualties.
The Israeli army also announced that it had hit an important bridge over a river in the south of the neighboring country. It spoke of an "important crossing" for members of Hezbollah. The militia is also said to have recently positioned rocket launchers there and fired projectiles at Israel from there. Israel's military recently called on civilians in the area to flee.
