French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken with US President Donald Trump before the start of a European crisis meeting on Ukraine in Paris. The Élysée Palace confirmed the twenty-minute phone call. However, there was initially no information on the content.

European heads of state and government met in Paris in the afternoon to seek a common line against the backdrop of the US plans for a possible end to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

In addition to host France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark are also taking part in the meeting. The President of the European Council, António Costa, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will also take part in the meeting.
