French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his outrage at Hamas propaganda videos in which Israeli hostages are shown. "Abominable cruelty, boundless inhumanity: this is what Hamas embodies," Macron wrote on X. "The absolute priority and imperative for France is the immediate release of all hostages." In addition, a ceasefire must be reached, humanitarian aid must be allowed into the Gaza Strip and a political solution to the conflict must be found.
"This solution is that of the two states of Israel and Palestine living peacefully side by side," wrote Macron. "To be very clear: within this political perspective, we demand the complete demilitarization of Hamas, its complete exclusion from any government authority and the recognition of Israel by the State of Palestine."
In a previously released Hamas propaganda video, an emaciated hostage can be seen digging her "own grave" in a narrow tunnel in Gaza.
