Among other things, the introduction of a new working time schedule from January 1, 2027 was agreed, as stated in the press release from the Swiss Federation of Master Builders and the unions Syna and Unia. And above a certain level, travel time will count as overtime in future.
The contract will run for six years - from the beginning of 2026 to the end of 2031 - and the outcome of the negotiations still needs to be approved by the decision-making bodies on both sides
Both parties approached each other during the intensive negotiations. They are convinced that they have found a solution that will increase the attractiveness of the construction industry for current employees and future young talent.
The national collective agreement in the construction industry has been in place since January 1, 2023 and expires at the end of this year. It regulates the wages and working conditions of the approximately 80,000 people employed in the construction industry in Switzerland.
