The mayor of Crans-Montana, Nicolas Féraud, wants to face up to his responsibilities following the fire disaster on New Year's Eve. He has not yet been questioned, he explained in an interview with Keystone-SDA.

In the eyes of many people, he is guilty, said Féraud in an interview with the news agency. The public prosecutor's office will investigate the responsibilities of all those involved.

In the event of an indictment, he will accept the responsibility he has to take, the local politician said. On a human level, and without prejudging the decision of the judiciary, he feels that responsibility.

Féraud expressed regret that he had not asked for forgiveness on behalf of the municipality at a press conference on January 6. In an emotionally very difficult situation for everyone, he had made the mistake of prioritizing caution instead of an apology and feelings, he said.
