The Foreign Minister of the mediating state of Oman, Badr al-Bussaidi, has called for de-escalation in the current war with Iran. A continuation of the military escalation would not help to resolve the conflict, according to the Foreign Ministry in Muscat. Al-Bussaidi called for an immediate ceasefire and a return to diplomatic talks.

He had already spoken to Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the phone. The latter had emphasized that Tehran wanted peace and supported diplomatic efforts to end the crisis triggered by the American-Israeli military campaign.

Talks with friendly countries

Al-Bussaidi also held talks with his counterparts from "brotherly and friendly countries" to discuss the rapidly developing situation and its serious impact on the stability of the region.

Oman reported a suspected Iranian drone attack on the port at Dukm for the first time on Sunday. There are no US bases in Oman. However, ports such as the one in Dukm can be used by the US military. Oman has acted as a mediator in the nuclear dispute between the USA and Iran.
