Five professional medical associations in Switzerland sounded the alarm on Friday. Work is becoming increasingly difficult for doctors, pharmacists and veterinarians, among others, they said. As a result, good medical care for people and animals in Switzerland is at risk.

The five participating associations announced on Friday at an action on the Bundesplatz in Bern, which was attended by around 200 people, that the shortage of young talent and specialists in the medical professions, which has been known for some time, is becoming ever greater.
Without the enormous commitment of people in the medical professions, it would no longer be possible to provide good care to the population, they said. The associations presented eight joint demands against the bottlenecks in medical care to the presidents of the health committees of the National Council and the Council of States. The obstacles in the profession were illustrated with a symbolic hurdle race.
The five participating associations represent over 63,000 people.
