Germany Meloni assures Selensky of further support
Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has assured Ukraine's head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyi of further support against Russia's war of aggression. In a telephone call before a meeting between Zelensky and other European partners in London, the right-wing head of government reproached Moscow for a "new series of indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets" in Ukraine, according to her office. Her country would supply further goods to support the energy infrastructure and population there, including generators. The goal remains a lasting and just peace.

Meloni will not be attending this Monday's meeting in London. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) will also be present. The USA and Ukraine had been negotiating a peace plan for three days until Saturday. US President Donald Trump's negotiators had previously been in Moscow. According to her office, Meloni also assured her support for the ongoing negotiation process and the commitment of the United States.
