When is a man a man? On the third "Rethink Masculinity Day", around 40 men in skirts gathered at Stadelhofen station in Zurich early on Tuesday morning, some of them in high heels.

The "proud and expressly unironic wearing of skirts in public" was intended to stimulate discussion in a peaceful yet provocative manner, according to a statement from the organizers.

The focus was on questions of what masculinity means and what responsibility men should take on in the gender equality process. On this day, the participants symbolically confronted their own fragility and questioned male privileges.

The action was called for by left-wing parties, the umbrella organization of Swiss men's and fathers' organizations (Männer.ch) and the association "Die Feministen". Similar actions took place on Tuesday in the cities of Basel and Bern.
