German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) is also accompanying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday. The purpose of the trip is to exchange information with Trump following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, a spokesperson for the German government announced. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had previously announced that she would be attending the meeting at the White House.
