German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) consulted with US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer by telephone on the situation in Ukraine. The four heads of state and government discussed the status of the talks on a ceasefire in Ukraine and wanted to continue the intensive work on the peace plan initiated by the USA in the coming days, the German government announced.

The four agreed that this was a critical moment for Ukraine, its population and common security in the Euro-Atlantic area, according to the Élysée Palace in Paris. Merz, Macron and Starmer acknowledged the efforts of the USA to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine and an end to the violence.
