The Ukrainian military intelligence service HUR says it is continuing to fight against the Russian occupiers following the successful landing of a special unit in the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.

The HUR's special unit "Timur" is continuing its operation in the city, which is important for logistics at the front, the secret service announced on Telegram. According to this, intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov himself is also in Pokrovsk, as can be seen in photos and a video from the HUR.

"Fierce battles are taking place with the Russian occupiers," the intelligence agency's message states. The media reported on the HUR operation last week.

According to the information, the special unit is supposed to thwart attempts by the enemy to expand its area of fire. Other units of the secret service are also involved in the fighting. They are supposed to stop the fall of the strategically important city. The HUR did not provide any details for reasons of troop safety.

Russia claims to have repelled Ukrainian attacks

Last week, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have "destroyed" the special unit after it landed. The unit had been transferred to Pokrovsk by helicopter after the situation there had escalated. The commando unit was tasked with clearing the supply lines to Pokrovsk. The commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Olexander Syrskyj, rejected Russian claims that Ukrainian soldiers were encircled there.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has now reported that several Ukrainian attacks in Pokrovsk have been repelled. According to the report, a house-to-house battle is also raging in the city, with the Russian side repeatedly reporting the number of buildings taken. Russia has been trying to take the mining town in the Donbass, which had around 60,000 inhabitants before the war, for more than a year with heavy losses.

The information provided by the warring parties cannot be independently verified. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for more than three and a half years.
