More than 800 people took part in a rally for Ukraine in Geneva on Sunday. Almost three years after the start of the Russian full-scale invasion, the demonstrators called for justice, solidarity and support for the country.

The participants gathered at the Place des Nations to "commemorate three years of a large-scale invasion". Speakers included the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Nations, Yevheniia Filipenko, and the Administrative Advisor of the City of Geneva, Alfonso Gomez.

In the rain, the demonstration marched through the city to Place Neuve, coloring the streets of Geneva in yellow and blue. "Terrorist Russia", "Ukraine fights the fascists" could be read on signs.

In a time of "unexpected" statements by its allies, Ukraine must remain independent: "Its sovereignty is not subject to negotiation," the organizers announced, recalling the atrocities committed by Russia. The conflict does not only affect Ukraine, but is a direct attack on the fundamental values of democracy and freedom.

Up to 850 people took part in the rally, as the Geneva police reported at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. The demonstration was peaceful. The demonstrators gathered in Switzerland at the call of the Ukrainian Society of Geneva.

On Saturday, around 2,000 people had already taken part in a national solidarity rally for Ukraine in Bern. Further rallies are planned for Monday, three years after the start of the Russian full-scale invasion.
