Ukraine has triggered massive traffic disruptions at the Russian capital's four airports with new drone attacks on Moscow in response to Russia's war of aggression. In the city district of Zelenograd, numerous high-rise buildings were also damaged by the drone strikes and cars were set on fire, as can be seen in pictures published by residents on social networks. The authorities in Zelenograd confirmed this, stating that many windows were also broken.

Residents also posted photos of their devastated homes, as seen on the Telegram channel "chp_Zelenograd". Mayor Sergei Sobyanin acknowledged the damage, but said it was not serious - and would be repaired. As during the night, Sobyanin repeatedly reported the launch of Ukrainian drones heading for Moscow in the morning. The number rose to over 20 by lunchtime.

Air traffic detour and delays

The Russian aviation authority Rosaviatsiya reported restrictions at the capital's four airports Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky. As take-offs and landings were not possible at times due to the risk of drones, incoming flights were diverted to other airports, including St. Petersburg.

Rosaviatsiya spokesman Artyom Korenyako, who was affected himself, asked passengers for understanding and patience. "Like many, I've been on the plane for several hours now," he said in a video clip from his seat. But flight safety has priority. Flight cancellations and delays occur time and again due to drone alerts. Airlines are complaining about massive financial losses in the middle of the school vacations, when flights are very busy.

Russia also attacked Ukraine with drones again

Ukraine, which is massively expanding its drone production, also wants to take the war back to Russia with its counter-attacks. Russia itself attacked Ukraine again on Sunday night with dozens of drones. The Ukrainian air defense stated their number at 57, significantly fewer than the day before. 18 of these unmanned flying objects were shot down. There were also many impacts. The air defense did not provide any information on damage.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for more than three years.
