According to President Vladimir Putin, Russia is prepared to remove enriched uranium from Iran and store it. Putin said this at an extraordinary press conference after the celebrations to mark the anniversary of the victory in the Second World War. Originally there had been agreement on this, but the USA had suddenly tightened its stance. The Kremlin leader said that Russia had already removed enriched uranium from Iran once in 2015. Iran had trusted Russia, "and not without reason".

Moscow was ready to "repeat this experience". He said that all parties to the conflict - Iran, the USA and Israel - had agreed to this. "But then the United States toughened its position and demanded the removal exclusively to US territory. Iran then toughened its position."

Putin described the conflict between the USA and Iran as "very difficult and complicated". Russia is also in a difficult position because it maintains friendly relations with both Iran and the countries bordering the Persian Gulf.

Moscow will therefore remain in contact with Tehran and Washington. "We hope that this conflict can be resolved, and as quickly as possible," said Putin. In his opinion, nobody is interested in a continuation of this conflict.
