Appearance with a black eye: Tech billionaire Elon Musk's black eye at a White House press conference has raised questions. "I was just joking around with the little X and said: Go on, punch me in the face," Musk replied when asked what it was all about. X Æ A-Xii - nicknamed X - is Musk's five-year-old son. In the end, Musk said, he had actually hit him. US President Donald Trump, who was also present, asked jokingly and somewhat astonished: "X did that?" Musk added that he didn't feel much after the punch, but then his eye turned blue.

Before that, he made a joke and replied to the question of what was wrong with his eye: "I wasn't anywhere near France." When asked by the press what this meant, Musk referred to a video showing a hand gesture from France's First Lady Brigitte Macron towards her husband Emmanuel Macron as he exited the presidential plane. There was then speculation as to whether it was a slap from the First Lady. The Élysée denied this. Trump had been asked about the scene shortly beforehand at the press conference.
Musk had declared on Wednesday that his time in the service of the government as a cost-cutter was coming to an end "as planned". His status as a "special government employee" is limited to 130 days according to US regulations. He now bid farewell to Washington in a joint press conference with Trump in the Oval Office.
