Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has addressed the Iranian people directly in a video message and called on them to rebel against the leadership in Tehran. He called on the people of Iran to "be bold and courageous - to dream".

"Take to the streets, demand justice, demand accountability, protest against tyranny," said the head of government. "Build a better future for your families and for all Iranians. Don't let these fanatical mullahs ruin your lives even one minute longer."

Conflict between arch-enemies continues despite ceasefire

Israel waged war against Iran for twelve days in June, bombing key nuclear facilities together with the USA. In addition to attacks on military targets, Israel also killed at least ten nuclear researchers in order to sabotage the nuclear program. Netanyahu said: "Your leaders forced the 12-day war on us and they lost miserably."

The basic conflict between the arch-enemies continues despite the ceasefire - a diplomatic solution is not in sight. Iran's leadership reacted domestically after the war with a wave of repression.

"Time to fight for freedom"

Referring to the recent water crisis in Iran, Netanyahu said: "Everything is collapsing. In this brutal summer heat, you don't even have clean, cold water for your children." Israel, on the other hand, is the "recycling world champion" for water. It could therefore help if the leadership in Tehran is overthrown. "We will help Iran to recycle water, we will help Iran to desalinate water." Netanyahu said: "Now is the time to fight for freedom."

The Israeli prime minister is facing strong opposition at home, with weekly demonstrations repeatedly calling him a dictator.
