During a visit to the border with Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed that Israel would do everything in its power to remove the Hezbollah militia from the border. According to Netanyahu's office, it must be pushed north of the Litani River, which is around 30 kilometers from the border.

Another condition for the safe return of citizens to their homes in northern Israel is to prevent a future rearmament of the militia, the head of government said. "We are attacking in all parts of Lebanon", said Netanyahu. Israel must also "respond in a comprehensive manner to every operation against us". Another goal is to prevent the supply of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah via Syria.
