Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is traveling to the UN General Assembly in New York again this year. Netanyahu's office announced that he is scheduled to arrive there on September 24 and return to Israel four days later. Netanyahu has already addressed the UN General Assembly several times, most recently last year. This year, his trip will be overshadowed by the Gaza war.

In the body of 193 member states, there is a stable majority of states that are critical of Israel and sympathetic to the Palestinians. In May, a resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority at the UN General Assembly in the US East Coast metropolis, granting the observer state of Palestine significantly expanded participation in meetings - albeit without regular voting rights.
