The US military has attacked another alleged drug boat, killing four people on board. The attack took place in the eastern Pacific Ocean in international waters, the responsible US military regional command (Southcom) announced on Platform X. The boat had been transporting drugs along a known smuggling route.

The US armed forces have been repeatedly attacking boats allegedly loaded with drugs in the Caribbean and Pacific for a few months now, without providing any concrete evidence to justify the attacks. According to US media reports, almost 90 people have been killed in the process. The US government consistently describes the victims as drug smugglers and "terrorists". The extrajudicial killings have been widely criticized. In the view of UN human rights experts, the US government is violating international law.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced further attacks at a cabinet meeting just a few days ago. "We have only just begun to destroy drug boats and send drug terrorists to the bottom of the sea," he said.
