The association Junge Haus- und KinderärztInnen Schweiz (JHaS) is launching an internet platform for deputies in GP and pediatric practices. In the long term, the project aims to counteract the shortage of GPs and pediatricians.

Practices can advertise temporary positions on the site and doctors can apply for these positions. The platform pursues two objectives, the association announced on Tuesday.

On the one hand, it aims to reduce the employment challenges for doctors in private practice - for example, for substitutes during parental leave, a sabbatical or longer absences due to illness.

On the other hand, deputization offers doctors the opportunity to expand their skills in several practices after their training before they settle down permanently.

As the JHaS writes, Switzerland is facing a shortage of family doctors and pediatricians. Too few medical students decide to become family doctors or pediatricians after completing their training. The barriers to entering practice are perceived as too high.
