Iran and the USA want to continue negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program in the coming week. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said this after the third round of negotiations. "The negotiations were conducted very seriously and professionally," said Araghchi after the meeting with US special envoy Steve Witkoff in Muscat, the capital of Oman, which lasted several hours.

The negotiations are expected to continue in the same constellation next Saturday in Oman. Iran's nuclear chief Mohammed Eslami will then also take part in the talks, said the Iranian chief diplomat according to the Isna news agency.
Araghchi: Controversial points identified
In addition to the political talks, technical negotiations also took place this time. According to Araghchi, the initial focus was on identifying the points of contention in order to gradually clarify them in the next rounds of negotiations. "We are cautiously optimistic," explained the minister.
US President Donald Trump repeatedly emphasizes that the USA's main goal is to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear bomb. He threatened Iran with military consequences if the talks failed. Araghchi replied that there were no fundamental differences in this respect. The Iranian nuclear program was peaceful and only intended for civilian purposes.
