There were again numerous anti-Semitic incidents in 2024, mainly due to the wars in the Middle East. Compared to the period before October 7, 2023, the numbers in the real world and online remain at an "unprecedentedly high" level.

In total, the Foundation against Racism and Antisemitism (GRA) and the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (SIG) registered 221 antisemitic incidents in German-, Italian- and Romansh-speaking Switzerland, as they wrote in the Antisemitism Report 2024 published on Tuesday.

This is 43% more than in 2023 and 287% more than in 2022. While there were hardly any physical attacks on Jews before 2023, there were 11 in 2024, including an attempted murder in Zurich and an attempted arson attack on a synagogue.

Around 45% of incidents in the real world were linked to the wars in the Middle East. This reason also dominated online in 28 percent of the 1596 registered anti-Semitic incidents.
