Schlomo Manzur was abducted on October 7, 2023 during the Hamas massacre in the Gaza Strip along with around 250 other people.

He was murdered by Hamas, the army added. His body is being held in the Gaza Strip. The decision to declare Manzur dead was based on intelligence gathered over months.

The Israeli forum of relatives of the hostages announced that, according to their information, Manzur was murdered on the day of the kidnapping. He is survived by his wife, five children and twelve grandchildren.

According to the forum, Manzur was born in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. As a child, he survived the 1941 pogrom against Jews known as "Farhud". At the age of 13, he emigrated to Israel with his family. Manzur was one of the founders of the Kissufim kibbutz on the edge of the Gaza Strip, from which he was also abducted.

According to Israeli information, 76 hostages are still being held in the Gaza Strip. 35 of them have already been declared dead.
