The Vaud public prosecutor's office confirmed on Wednesday that it has opened criminal proceedings against State Councillor Valérie Dittli (center) for alleged abuse of office. However, it discontinued proceedings for alleged breach of official secrecy.

These decisions have to do with the tax cap for the rich in the canton of Vaud. After examining a report on an external investigation and the criminal complaint filed by the State Council for breach of official secrecy, the Vaudois judiciary opened two criminal investigations in May.

According to the public prosecutor's office, it could not be proven that Dittli had violated official secrecy. The information had already been passed on beforehand by other members of the government - in other words, it was no longer secret. However, there are indications that Dittli is said to have instructed a manager to change tax decisions retrospectively, which could be considered abuse of office.

Ten days ago, Dittli offered the judiciary his help and cooperation to establish the facts.
