The opponents of the Juso initiative to tax inheritances worth millions are spending a lot on the referendum campaign. The various committees have budgeted CHF 3.67 million for the No campaign - many times more than those in favor.

This is shown by figures from the Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO), which were published on Friday. According to these figures, the Juso initiators have planned expenditure of CHF 400,000. Their budget is therefore nine times smaller than that of their opponents.

By publishing the campaign budgets, the Confederation is implementing the transparency initiative. Budgets of more than CHF 50,000 must be reported, whereby contributions to the committees of more than CHF 15,000 are listed individually.

On November 30, the people and cantons will decide on the Juso inheritance tax initiative and the service-citoyen initiative to introduce a citizens' service for all. Comparatively little money is being spent on the referendum campaign for the latter proposal.
