The Juso initiative for an inheritance tax starting at a tax-free amount of CHF 50 million would drive away heavy taxpayers and jeopardize numerous family businesses: These are the arguments put forward by a No committee against the proposed vote on November 30.

The consequences of the initiative "for a social climate policy - fairly financed through taxation (Initiative for a Future)" would be tax increases for private households and the loss of jobs, the opponents from the SVP, FDP, Center Party and GLP told the media on Tuesday.
The popular initiative could lead to tax losses of up to CHF 3.7 billion a year due to the departure of the best taxpayers. Such losses are unacceptable in view of the federal deficits.
According to Allianz, the proposed inheritance tax would force family businesses in particular to sell their entire company or parts of it - usually abroad. Such an inheritance tax would only create losers, it concluded. The business location would suffer significantly.
