The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the building was housing displaced people. Several people were injured. According to the Hamas-controlled civil defense, the house is located in the north of the coastal area.
According to Wafa and the Civil Defense, two other Palestinians were killed when a wall collapsed onto a tent camp for displaced persons in the city of Gaza.
According to the Civil Defense, a total of nine people have died as a result of the storm "Byron" in the past 24 hours. Among them was a child who died of hypothermia. According to eyewitnesses and reports, storms have also flooded camps for internally displaced persons over the past two days.
Storm exacerbates the plight of people in Gaza
In more than two years of war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have lost their homes and are living in temporary shelters. The storm is exacerbating people's hardship. The war was triggered by the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023. A ceasefire has been in place since October 10, 2025.
The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip had warned residents not to take shelter in war-damaged buildings during the storm.
