According to Palestinian reports, eleven people have been killed and several injured in new Israeli bombardments in the north of the Gaza Strip. Six people were killed in an attack in the town of Beit Hanun and five others in the district of Shejaiya in the city of Gaza, according to medical sources in the coastal region. According to the report, a group waiting for relief supplies was hit in Shejaiya. The information could not initially be independently verified.

Israel's army did not initially comment on the reports when asked.

The situation, particularly in the largely destroyed north of the Palestinian territory, is considered catastrophic. International food security experts consider an "imminent famine" to be very likely.

Israel's army and the Israeli military authority for Palestinian affairs, Cogat, announced that eleven trucks with food, water and medical equipment had been delivered to the north of the area a few days ago. The aid supplies are intended for the remaining population in Beit Hanun and for the residents of the fiercely contested refugee quarter of Jabaliya. Tens of thousands of people have already fled from there.

Since October, 713 aid trucks have been brought to the northern section of the Gaza Strip. From the US perspective, however, more aid is needed overall to alleviate the plight of the people on the ground.
