US President Donald Trump is in excellent health, according to his personal physician. "President Trump continues to enjoy excellent health," explained physician Sean Barbabella. "His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being." The 78-year-old is therefore "fully capable" of fulfilling his duties as president. Trump attends numerous meetings, public appearances, press events and also frequently takes part in golf tournaments every day.

The Republican underwent a routine medical examination at Walter Reed military hospital near the US capital Washington on Friday. According to the health report, he is around 1.90 meters tall and weighs around 102 kilograms.

30 out of 30 points in cognitive test

The examination revealed no abnormalities in his heart or lungs. Neurological and cognitive tests were also unremarkable. Trump passed a procedure for the early detection of cognitive impairments with 30 out of 30 points. In the test, the patient has to recognize drawn animals such as a lion or a camel or trace a cube, among other things. There are also tasks that test concentration, memory and abstract thinking.

According to the report, the Republican's skin showed slight sun damage and some harmless skin changes. According to his doctor, Trump is fully vaccinated and has abstained from tobacco and alcohol his entire life.

Trump is an avid golfer and owns several golf clubs in the US and abroad. He usually spends his weekends at his Mar-a-Lago estate in the state of Florida, where he pursues his hobby at the nearby Trump International Golf Club. However, according to media reports, the president also likes to eat fast food - burgers are regularly on the menu, according to those close to him.

Trump wants to set himself apart from Biden

One of the peculiarities of US politics is that presidents regularly make public statements about their state of health - not because it is required by law, but because it has become a ritual over the years that hardly any office holder can avoid.

Trump had previously expressed his satisfaction with the results of the health check and emphasized that he wanted to set himself apart from his predecessor Joe Biden, who had refused to undergo a cognitive test.

For Biden in particular, the health checks had always attracted some attention, as there were major doubts about the Democrat's mental fitness at the end of his term of office. For this reason, Biden withdrew from the race for a second term just months before the 2024 presidential election. In 2021, at the age of 78, the Democrat had gone down in the history of the United States as the oldest president to date.

Donald Trump surpassed this age record when he returned to office in January - also at 78, but a few months older than Biden when he took office. Trump will be 79 years old in June. The Republican has described himself in the past as a "mentally very stable genius".
