In his view, it is not the victim's ability to defend itself that should be restricted, but the aggressor's ability to commit aggression, said Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski before a meeting with his EU counterparts in Brussels.
The "Financial Times" reported on the alleged peace plan negotiated by the US leadership and Russia, citing people involved in the talks. According to the report, the plan envisages Ukraine completely evacuating the embattled regions of Donetsk and Luhansk and halving its army.
This should also include parts of the territories that Russia has not yet been able to conquer militarily. The front line in the south is to be largely frozen.
Little was known about the plan in the European capitals. EU circles in Brussels said that the USA was in talks with both warring parties, but that they had not yet seen the new plan.
Sikorski said that Poland supported every effort to achieve peace in Ukraine in principle. However, Europe is the most important financial and military supporter of the fighting Ukraine, and the security situation in Europe also depends largely on how the war there is ended. Poland therefore demanded that Europe be involved in these decisions.
