Preparations for the polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip have been completed, according to the Ministry of Health in Ramallah. At a press conference in the embattled coastal region, the first children have already been vaccinated. The World Health Organization spoke of an opening ceremony. According to official information, the vaccination campaign will officially begin on Sunday morning.

Footage of the press conference in the Gaza Strip, which was given by the Hamas-controlled health authority, shows some children already receiving their first dose of vaccine.

Following the first case of polio in the Gaza Strip recently, the aim is to prevent a mass outbreak of the disease. Aid workers are to vaccinate hundreds of thousands of children in the coming days. To this end, there are to be temporary and localized breaks in the fighting.
