Polish authorities have recovered a crashed drone in a field near the border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad (Königsberg). Police and military police received a tip-off in the morning that an unknown flying object had been found near the town of Bartoszyce, the military police announced on Facebook. "Initial investigations on site indicate that it is probably a military drone used for surveillance purposes, but not combat-capable," the statement said. The military police have launched an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office.

According to information from private radio station RMF, the drone is said to have been labeled with Cyrillic letters. This could indicate a Russian or Ukrainian origin. According to information also not yet confirmed by the police, the crashed drone is said to have been equipped with several cameras, according to RMF.
The public television station TVP Info later named the village of Osieka, which is only around 20 kilometers from the Russian border, as the exact location. A defense expert interviewed by the broadcaster suspected that it was an unintentionally crashed reconnaissance drone and not an attempted military attack.
