Pope Leo XIV sees a "spark of hope in the Holy Land" following the agreements for a ceasefire in the Gaza war. The head of 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide called on the various parties involved to "continue on the path towards a just and lasting peace that takes into account the legitimate aspirations of the Israeli and Palestinian people". Leo made his remarks during his Sunday prayer in front of tens of thousands of faithful in St. Peter's Square.
