Supporters of the abolition of the imputed rental value - namely the Homeowners' Association - are investing a lot of money in the referendum campaign ahead of the vote on September 28. Opponents, on the other hand, are investing hardly any funds according to current figures.

The Yes committee is spending a total of CHF 7.08 million on the referendum campaign. This is shown by the latest figures from the Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO), which were published on Thursday. The vast majority of the money comes from the Swiss Homeowners Association and its cantonal sections. The Swiss Real Estate Association (Svit) also provides financial resources.

The opposing side is significantly underfunded with currently budgeted expenditure of CHF 460,000. The SP Switzerland and the umbrella organization of the economy for renewable energies and energy efficiency (Aeesuisse) are investing in the No campaign.
