Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed his willingness to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. He is also prepared to make concessions, Putin said at his annual press conference in response to a question from US broadcaster NBC. "Politics is the art of compromise."

He did not give any details on possible compromises. At the same time, the Kremlin leader once again accused Ukraine of blocking negotiations.

He recalled the failure of an agreement that Moscow and Kiev tried to conclude in Istanbul shortly after the start of the war of aggression ordered by Putin. The agreement was ultimately rejected by Ukraine under pressure from the West, he said.

Putin also did not rule out a meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump. However, he did not know when such a meeting could take place. "I haven't spoken to him for four years." So far, there have been no proposals from Trump's team for a meeting.
