Russian President Vladimir Putin believes a meeting with Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyi to end Moscow's war of aggression is possible. However, the conditions for such negotiations would have to be right, and they are still a long way off, Putin said in the Kremlin on the sidelines of a meeting with Emirati President Mohammed bin Sajid.
Putin himself also confirmed his planned meeting with US President Donald Trump next week for the first time in public. The United Arab Emirates could be a suitable location for a summit, he said.
Previously, Putin's foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov had said that Moscow and Washington had already agreed on the location. However, it would not be officially announced until later. Putin said that Russia had several friends who were ready to host the event.
Russia has been waging a destructive war of aggression against Ukraine for more than three years. US President Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to end the war quickly.
