The Visletto Bridge in the Maggia Valley, which was destroyed by a severe storm in June 2024, is being rebuilt. The new structure stands for "strength and rebirth", said Ticino's Director of Construction Claudio Zali at a media conference on the edge of the construction site.
Zali noted that all necessary procedures had been accelerated in order to speed up construction. This has made it possible to minimize the planning time for the new bridge.
The new bridge over the Maggia should be completed by November 2026. The structure will cost CHF 8.5 million and will replace the temporary Visletto Bridge built by the army last summer. The new structure should offer "maximum safety" against natural hazards, according to the Ticino Department of Civil Engineering and the Environment.
