The travel ban for asylum seekers proposed by the Federal Council has met with a mixed response in the consultation process. Left-wing parties and Refugee Aid criticize it as disproportionate, while the SVP believes it does not go far enough.

The federal government only wants to allow temporarily admitted persons, persons in need of protection and asylum seekers to travel abroad in exceptional cases. The basis for this is a parliamentary decision from 2021.
Refugees from Ukraine are exempt from the general ban, which does not suit the SVP. It rejects the bill and is calling for more restrictive exceptions and stricter sanctions.
The Swiss Refugee Council believes the bill goes too far. It is calling for a uniform protection status for all war displaced persons. The travel ban is incompatible with fundamental rights, according to the Greens and the SP.
The Green Liberals are calling for lower hurdles for family visits. The Centre Party and FDP support the course in principle, but are calling for a reassessment if the situation changes.
