Despite an announced ceasefire, fighting continues in Syria. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused the factions allied with the government in Damascus of attacking their positions.

The attacks had been on Ain Issa, Al-Shaddadi and in al-Rakka. According to Syrian army sources, however, the armed forces themselves were again attacked by the SDF. According to the report, there was an attack in the area of the Tischrin Dam. Three soldiers were killed. Others are said to have been injured.
The army had previously announced that it would begin deploying troops in the affected region. According to army sources, it blamed the SDF for the deadly attack on its soldiers. Terrorist groups such as the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) and remnants of the toppled Assad government were trying to obstruct the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, it said.
Fighting near IS prisons
The SDF warned of a significant deterioration in the security situation. Heavy fighting is currently taking place in the vicinity of al-Akttan prison, they announced in a press release. The prison houses members of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS). Government forces and their allies are trying to take control of the prison. The SDF warned of "catastrophic consequences." There are concerns that IS members could also be released from the prison in the event of fighting or a withdrawal of the SDF.
Following renewed fighting on Sunday evening, the government of interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire in the conflict between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and government troops.
